No single metric or document answers whether an applicant is well positioned. Build a dated, connected record showing relevant capability, prior success, current progress, external interest, and a realistic path forward.

Review checkpoints
Open the sections you need instead of scrolling through every paragraph at once.

Collect records of relevant work already completed: publications, deployments, research milestones, products, grants, contracts, teaching, or other field-specific outputs. Prioritize work that uses the same method, serves similar users, or addresses the same problem as the proposed endeavor.

For each item, note the date, applicant's role, audience or user, result, and independent record. A CV is a useful index, but the underlying publication, deployment record, grant notice, contract, or institutional document supplies the verifiable detail.
